Universal Surety Company was founded in 1947. The company writes contract surety bonds which guarantee performance under the terms and conditions of the construction contract and payment of certain subcontractors, laborers and suppliers.

Inland Insurance
Inland Insurance Company was founded in 1958 to serve much the same function as Universal Surety Company. Over time, both companies expanded to write license and permit bonds, public, official and court bonds and miscellaneous bonds such as probate and guardianship bonds.
